Palworld beginner guide

Sleep or explore at night: Nocturnal travel, lighting, danger and opportunity

The night is not something you can just skip, nor is the more exciting the better. The beginners prepares his bed, fire, food and return trip before deciding whether to take advantage of the night.

Is this the problem you have?

Should I go straight to bed after dark, or go out and catch night Pal?

Quick answer

If you don’t have a bed, food, fire source, lighting, or a return point, sleep first at night or stay at the base to organize. If you are fully prepared, you can catch night pals at close range, open nearby points, or replenish materials at night. Don't hit the road at nightfall, and don't sleep through the night forever, as some pals and material beats won't be noticed until late at night.

At night, it depends on preparation first, not on courage.

beginners accidents at night are usually not caused by darkness itself, but by a chain of insufficient preparations: no bed, no food, no fire source, lack of stamina, full backpack, and no lights on the return trip. Going out to catch Night Pal in this state will only turn a small problem into a dead recovery. If the base is not stable on the first night, it is completely reasonable to sleep or organize the base.

Once you have a bed and basic supplies, nighttime becomes an optional resource. Nearby night Pals, glowing objects, campsites and map vision can all become exploration targets, but the radius must be smaller. Using "Can I go home in two minutes" as a boundary is more practical than using level judgment.

Minimum specs for night exploration

The minimum requirements are: food on the body, normal equipment durability, basic awareness of lighting or fire sources, knowing the direction of the nearest fast travel points or base, and the backpack is not heavy enough to affect retreat. If you want to go to cold terrain or areas with high and low altitudes, you must also confirm the temperature and endurance.

If you just want to catch a few night Pals, don't rush to a new area in one go. First move around the first base, dilapidated churches, and small settlements, and treat the night as the second level of a familiar area, rather than an adventure ticket in an unfamiliar area.

It’s not wrong to sleep through the night

If you're building a first base, packing boxes, making Spheres, and waiting for Pal to recover, sleeping off the night can help keep the rhythm more steady. The fun of Palworld is not to be efficient every minute, but to keep pushing forward. When beginners are continuously interrupted by night, they should first use the bed to simplify the day and night rhythm, and then go back to fill in the night content.

Once you have mounts and teleporters, the value of night will increase: map runs will be faster, retreat will be easier, and you will be better able to withstand occasional battles. At this time, add the night Pal, night materials and further opening points to the route.

Night tasks are smaller than during the day

During the day, you can arrange a relatively long circle of collection or map creation, while the night is suitable for small tasks: grab one or two night Pals, repair a close-up statue, visit a nearby camp, and return to the base for a round of production. Night vision and temperature stress can magnify errors, so the smaller the task, the safer it is.

If you want to take advantage of the night, first make your goal very specific: not "go out and take a look", but "go and catch two night monsters near the dilapidated church. If you can't catch them, come back." Only when the conditions for return are clear will the night be an opportunity and not the beginning of getting lost and dying.

final line of judgment

Night is also a good time to organize information. You can return to the base at night to pack boxes, replenish Spheres, repair equipment, upgrade technology, check the next target, and then go out in the daytime. This rhythm will not make you play less content, but will make exploration during the day more efficient. If you forget to bring something with you every time you go out during the day, prepare it first at night instead of taking risks in a hurry.

supplementary boundaries

If you are playing in a multiplayer server, whether you sleep at night depends on other players. In the single-player world, you can advance time by sleeping; in a multi-player server, not everyone may sleep at the same time, or the server time may flow as usual. At this time, night preparation, base organization, and close-range activities are even more important. You cannot assume that you can skip the risk by pressing sleep.

It can also serve the base rhythm at night

The night doesn't have to be a risk if you decide not to sleep. It can be base maintenance time: sorting the materials collected during the day, mending Pal Spheres, repairing tools, cooking food, looking at the technology tree, and returning fallen or low-status pals to the terminal for sorting. These actions may not look like exploration, but they will make the next day a lot less disruptive.

Once you're familiar with it, divide your nights into two types: safety nights and exploration nights. Only move around the base at safe nights; bring supplies to grab night Pals or drive closer when exploring at night. beginners don't have to do the same thing every night. Switching according to the state of preparation is the most stable rhythm.

Version 1.0 night-time decision point

Version 1.0 reduced penalties from hunger, fractures, and similar conditions, but night-time cold, visibility, and supply risks remain. Whether to sleep through the night still depends on your torch, environmental gear, food, return point, and short objective.

Common mistakes

  • The first night we had no bed or food and we had to travel a long way.
  • Forever sleeping through the night, missing out on the opportunity for nighttime Pals and familiarity with the map.
  • The night exploration backpack is full and you cannot retreat when encountering a battle.
