Mutation & 1.0 Breeding FAQ

Mutation odds, the four new cakes, the combo reshuffle and legendaries — the companion Q&A to the breeding calculator.

What is Mutation?

Breeding can rarely yield a mutated egg: it hatches a stronger Pal with higher stats and an exclusive passive.

Confirmed in the official changelog: breeding has a low chance of producing a mutated egg; the Pal that hatches has higher stats than a normal specimen and carries an exclusive passive unobtainable elsewhere — the family cataloged on-site as rainbow passives. For ultimate Pal building, mutation is the new core goal of 1.0 breeding.

What are the mutation odds, and how to raise them?

Not published officially; community sampling puts it near 1%, Deluxe Vegetable Cake raises it to roughly 2–3%.

Officially only "the Deluxe Vegetable Cake increases mutation and stat-growth odds" is confirmed, with no numbers. Large community samples measure ~1% base and roughly 2–3% with the Deluxe cake — call it 1–3 mutations per hundred eggs; pending on-site verification.

In practice it is a numbers game — push volume and rate together: Vegetable Cake (two eggs at once) for volume, Deluxe Vegetable Cake for rate, ranch supply lines set up first, and pick parent pairs you wanted to mass-produce anyway, so failed rolls still pay off.

What do the four new cakes do?

Mushroom = stat ceiling; Vegetable = two eggs; Deluxe Vegetable = mutations; Special = multi-passive inheritance.

The four official function cakes: Mushroom Cake slightly raises newborn stat ceilings; Vegetable Cake produces two eggs at once; Deluxe Vegetable Cake boosts mutation and stat-growth odds; Special Cake improves the chance of inheriting multiple parent passives.

Swap cakes by goal instead of running one all the way: volume-farm mutations with Vegetable + Deluxe Vegetable; switch to Special for the generations where you lock in passives; finish the lineage with Mushroom when chasing stat ceilings.

Did 1.0 change all breeding combos?

Same formula, fully reshuffled breeding values: old EA combo charts are obsolete.

The formula itself is unchanged: the child is the pool Pal whose CombiRank is closest to floor((A + B + 1)/2), ties resolved by the verified tie-winner table. What changed is every Pal's breeding value — fully reshuffled in 1.0, officially to "match the acquisition experience to game progression", closing most old shortcuts where cheap parents produced endgame Pals.

This site has re-verified breeding results against the 1.0 release; retire your old charts and forum posts — querying the calculator or path map is faster than second-guessing.

Can legendaries / tower Pals still be bred?

Mostly no: 41 Pals are flagged non-breedable in the 1.0 data; same-species pairing only.

In the 1.0 data, 41 Pals carry the ignoreCombi flag — outside the formula pool with no override combo producing them. Jetragon, Frostallion, Paladius, Necromus and other legendaries and endgame Pals are on the list. They only reproduce same-species: secure one male and one female first, then self-sustain.

Circulating claims of "chain-breeding into Jetragon" directly contradict the 1.0 data — until settled by in-game testing, trust the calculator's output; if you reproduce a counter-example in game, please report it.

Can Alpha Pal eggs be produced reliably?

Broncherry + Broncherry Aqua stack: picked-up eggs can turn Alpha — 100% combined at max, per community testing.

Broncherry's "Love's First Blossom" (level 33 saddle) and Broncherry Aqua's "Purity's Full Bloom" (level 44 saddle) both give picked-up Pal eggs a chance to become Alpha Pal eggs while the Pal is in your party: 35% and 45% at skill level 1, rising to 45% and 55% at level 5 via condensation. "Does not stack" only bars duplicates of the same Pal; the two different skills add, and community testing puts both maxed together at a combined 100% (not yet re-verified by this site — test a small sample first).

Add a Grintale ("Glaring Cat's Eye", level 19 saddle) for a chance at one extra egg per pickup. The open question: the skill text says "eggs you pick up", and breeding-farm eggs are picked up too, so they should qualify — but the community still debates whether wild eggs trigger it, so treat it as a breeding-line multiplier. And the cold water: Alpha IVs are not guaranteed higher — strength still comes down to IVs and passives.

Why do some combos care about parent gender?

A few combos are gender-locked directional pairs; the reverse fails — the tool marks the direction.

The 1.0 data layer contains gender-locked combos: with the same two species, A♂×B♀ and A♀×B♂ give different results, and the reversed pairing never yields the target child. The calculator preserves a direction note — which side must be which gender — so follow it and no eggs are wasted.

How do passives and IVs inherit, and how to clean lines?

Passives draw from the parents' pool; dilute junk with clean parents; Special Cake raises inheritance odds.

A child's passives are drawn from the union of both parents' passives: only what the parents carry can appear. Work in two phases — first stack: get the target passives onto both parents and use Special Cake to raise the odds of inheriting several at once; then wash: dilute stray junk passives out across generations using clean, passive-free parents.

IVs are also partially inherited from parents, so high-IV specimens are worth keeping as breeding stock. Check any individual with the IV calculator, and inspect both passives and IVs when signing off a finished Pal.

How do I set up cake supply for breeding?

Base cake = 5 flour + 8 red berries + 7 milk + 8 eggs + 2 honey; staff the ranch first.

Base cake recipe (site 1.0 data): 5 flour + 8 red berries + 7 milk + 8 eggs + 2 honey. The bottleneck is almost always the ranch trio — milk, eggs and honey come passively from the right ranch Pals, so staff those slots first and keep plantations plus the mill ahead of flour demand before starting a breeding marathon.

The function cakes (Vegetable / Deluxe / Special / Mushroom) add ingredients on top; before mass production, total the requirements first and size your lines accordingly.
